It’s not every day you photograph a marriage by a ruined castle on a tiny island off the west coast of Scotland.
Kerrera is in fact quite a large island and can be compared with Scarba, Seil and Luing, is scarcely populated and provides excellent shelter for the Oban harbour.
At the south end, close to the ruins of Gylen Castle is the Kerrera Tea Garden and Bunkhouse. The island is home to 64 full time residents.

Beautiful part of Scotland I discovered thanks to Ruth & Charlie who asked me to be their wedding photographer. There isn’t much more I can say about Kerrera, other than rambling on about the peace and quiet, but if you find yourself in the Oban area, you should make a trip to see the peaceful Isle of Kerrera. The invite said “Come prepared for adventure” and the subtitle of the day was “A glorious shambles”. We planned to do the 7 mile loop from the ferry to the tea house and castle ruins. challenge for the island.

There is always plenty to explore in Glen Coe! To get to Kerrera you travel a mile or so past the ferry and around the corner to Gallanach. Scotland is one of the best choices for couples deciding to elope with Isle of Skye being their favourite destination.
