OnePlus says this phone charges 23% faster than previous OnePlus devices, and while weren’t able to test that specific claim, we did find that it charged fast enough for us to be able to plug it in for 20 minutes and get enough juice to last us through the day. The back of this thing looks like a washing machine. The screen is one of the two real improvements over the OnePlus 7 and it’s a winner. There was a problem. OnePlus remains convinced that wireless charging isn’t a useful feature, but it’s a noticeable omission here given that top-end devices from the likes of Samsung and Apple include it. The resolution and panel technology remain the same, though: it’s still a 1080p AMOLED screen. Everything looks great within the software, but if you’re used to stock Android, or another manufacturer’s take on Android, you may find it takes you some time to adjust. It’s so smooth, in fact, that going back to using a regular smartphone with a 60Hz display (that’s most phones, in case you were wondering) feels a little odd. The “Plus” here refers, not to an entirely new chipset, but to slightly boosted clock speeds across CPU and GPU cores. The big highlight of the OnePlus 7T Pro is its 90Hz 6.67-inch display, with no notch or cutout to get in the way of what you’re watching or playing on your phone. By Video shot on the 7T Pro looked good, and you can shoot 4K footage if you want maximum quality. It’s fairly quick once you’ve selected the mode and the 7T does a good job at making the best out of a poorly lit scene, but next to, say, the iPhone 11’s Night mode, with its useful previews and capabilities picking out detail and colour in the dark, there’s still work for OnePlus to do here. In fact in low light, I was actually quite impressed. You have successfully subscribed to our newsletter. No-one has exactly succeeded, but this is not the way to go.

All nice and nerdy and, in the case of the brightness, immediately useful. It’s also important to note that the OnePlus 7T Pro doesn’t come with an IP water resistance rating – the company doesn’t submit its phones for testing by the body that issues that standard – so you probably shouldn’t get this device wet to ensure it doesn’t get damaged, although that’s not to say it won’t survive the odd splash. The vertically stacked lenses on the 7T Pro are also in this same central spot, but the 7T’s bump sticks out further and so is more irritating day to day.
