Amazing what such a small change can do for a game, isn't it? Yeah pretty much. Like, damn. As long as its not Jurassic Park's gameplay I'm cool with whatever. Now I feel like a lot of the poor ones get held up as examples of the genre as though ALL adventure games were like that. So qill they both work on episode 4 or what. The Walking Dead was not just successful, it was critically acclaimed and held everyone's attention for the course of the entire season. Now I would like to play the enemy within, but if I can't continue with my previous decisions I prefer to wait until telltale games returns. Telltale may do some classic stuff when they stop being so hot and picking up big licenses.
For example, some parts of the game just required you to be sneaking which required you to gently tap the LB and RB button (xbox 360 controller) in rhythm. Batman Season 3 would have been potentially so good keeping in mind how Season 2 was. The reason I'm not much of a fan of adventure games anymore is because Adventure Games used to be, to me, Roleplaying games where you didn't kill anything. That the workers already made a company before telltale shut down. Telltale Games closed in September of 2018 after reports on toxic culture and mismanagement, which were followed by a near-total staff layoff. I'm super excited for "Tales from the Borderlands," and their Game of Thrones game, too.
Instead of "who do I have to kill to get this door open!"
Sam and Max, one of my favorite games, Full Throttle, Monkey Island, etc. It makes it only better that they have previous franchises and the old way to do it in their portfolio. @bbalpert: They actually made a new adventure game not too long ago called The Raven if you want to check that out. So, anytime there is success, you find everyone lean hard in that direction. I'd love to see more from the team(s) that made The Book of Unwritten Tales and The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles. "Heeeeyyyy remember how there was going to be a skeleton crew staying on for a while and I was part of it? Videogames are INCREDIBLY trendy. The conclusion Telltale is arriving at now always seemed like the way for these games to go. Telltale Games is technically back, but it will be years — if ever — that we see it at the same scale it was before.
Now "adventure game" basically means "movie with random button presses in it" which doesn't seem at all like the genre I used to enjoy. Telltale Games is Coming Back.
Telltale Games' grim and gripping take on The Walking Dead comes to a close in the final season of this graphic adventure series. LucasArts being the guys who started up TellTale. The thing is, who will fill their shoes?
I mean, I agree, but at the same time I think it's hard to say. With liquidation underway, several of Telltale's games have been removed from Steam, including the studio's Jurassic Park and Back to the Future series. But about 7 minutes into watching the walking dead, I turned off the video I was watching and bought it because I was like "THIS I WANT TO PLAY.". In traditional tabletop RPGs, you could fight if you wanted, but you could also talk your way out of situations or improvise solutions if you could think up a way to do that. Story over gameplay. And I for one am glad. Honestly, I really just want GoT season 2 right now. The company has gone through major restructuring since undergoing massive layoffs in September 2018 and subsequent acquisition by LCG Entertainment. This is breathing new life into the company, and it could signal the return of some of your favorite series.
Then they said "do that! I think many of the companies doing Point and Click now are much better at it then Telltale ever was.
