Baskets made by local indigenous communities are filled with curiously shaped seeds and nuts from the forest, transforming nature into an object of beauty and fascination. do not experience every day and something Awasi made one of the highlights of our trip. The menu is at its best when the inspiration is local, from river fish to Atlantic Forest fruits and manioc, a staple of indigenous cooking. I learnt that one evening when, cocktail in hand, I listened to a talk about the Atlantic Forest, given by a member of staff with a conservation background. The accommodations are just simply stunning and blend so well into the environment. My advice is to GO! The lodge design was so soothing and sophisticated without feeling stuffy. Personally, we boated and kayaked in and around the Tri-border area, hiked through jungle and into the Iguazu Falls, and met the local indigenous people, all in the space of three short days. As if this were not enough, each and every party is also assigned a private guide and SUV.
Visiting the Devil’s Throat before the park opens to the public is just one of the exclusive experiences that Awasi offers its guests. !Thank you Awasi for being the way you are!!! The food options were also on a cheaper side, with no crab or Chilean sea bass available on any of the nights, inferior steak cuts and simple fish like trout and swordfish. On that trip 13 years ago we just went for one night in order to spend a full day touring the falls. In the first 10 minutes at the resort, I got a wine list with bottles ranging from $100 to $200. Our 14-Villa lodge lays in a private reserve, overlooking the granite peaks and pristine lakes of the Torres del Paine National Park. This is in no way an attempt to change your mind but rather offer our clarifications. We only did Buenos Aires and the Falls on this trip and even being such a far way to travel it was 100% worth it - taking Iguazu as a destination in itself and not just an add on experience. It was so hot when we were there it was amazing to come back and be able to jump in your own private plunge pool and watch amazing birdlife flutter around you. A unique experience to remember for ever... Every one one of the 14 villas has a unique view.
Hope to see you again soon!Warmest regards, Awasi Team.
Guests can enjoy free breakfast, an on-site restaurant, and a lounge during their stay. There are no TVs here: instead, glossy travel books invite guests to sink into one of the dozen or so sofas. Best wishes, The Awasi Team, My husband and I were not interested in hiking, we just wanted to relax from our hectic days in New York city, enjoy good food and wine and see some pretty vistas.
